Make hunting for your dress a stress-free occasion! We’re happy to help!
1. Bel Fiore always strives to provide excellent service, but for a quieter salon and less commotion, schedule your appointment on a weekday. We’re open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 11 to 8 and Friday from 11 to 6.
2. Narrow down the guest list. As fun as is sounds to bring your 10 bridesmaids along, keep the crowd small at your appointments. This allows for less conflicting opinions and more opportunity for you to choose your gown of your dreams with the one or 2 people you trust most.
3. Leave the polka dots at home. Flesh-toned, strapless bra and panties are best so that nothing shows through the dress. If you’re planning on wearing a body shaper underneath, bring that to wear while trying on as well. Don’t worry if you forget your bra, Bel Fiore offers longline bras to wear during your appointment.
4. Don’t just roll out of bed. No matter how gorgeous the gown, you won’t fall in love with it if you look and feel like a mess. Take the time to get ready like you would for a day at work, wear your hair and makeup as you normally would.
5. Don’t panic when you see the label! Typically a gown is ordered to your largest measurements. Depending on the designer, wedding gowns can run 1 to 2 sizes small. For example, if you wear an 8 in off-the-rack clothing, you’d probably order a 10 or 12 for your bridal gown.
6. Listen to your consultant. Your bridal consultant is here to help you! She is familiar with the styles in the store and can offer possible changes to the gown to reflect your vision and personality (color and style changes – lengthening the train, adding a sweetheart neckline, etc).
7. Go shoe shopping. When it comes time for your first fitting (after the dress has been purchased and arrived), bring the shoes you’re going to wear on your wedding day. We can almost guarantee that you’ll need your hem altered and it can be done most accurately with the actual shoes you’ll be wearing.
8. Set aside a stash. The final price of a gown does not include alterations, so expect to spend around $300 for fixes, including your bustle, hem, and any additional work to the bodice. Other changes you request may cost extra as well.
9. Be sure before you sign. When you’re ordering your gown, you’re signing a standard contract that holds you liable for the purchase (payment of balance, if necessary). Seldom do designers allow cancellations after the agreement has been signed. Even if you elope, call off the wedding, or move to Iceland, the dress is still going to be yours.
10. Don’t crash diet. After taking your measurements, we will discuss and choose the best size for you to order. Don’t worry if you’re going to lose weight, dresses can always be altered down to give you the correct fit. All dresses need some sort of alteration to fit you best! Bel Fiore’s in-store seamstress will put the finishing touches on your gown.
11. Designers rarely allow photos. Don’t be surprised if the salon won’t allow you to take photos of you in the dresses. At Bel Fiore, we’re happy to take a picture of you and your group to remember the day! You are welcome to take pictures of the dress once you’ve decided to purchase it.
