Tired of the traditional white or ivory wedding gown? There are other options out there and here at Bel Fiore, we carry many of them!
Although a traditional white or ivory dress is always a popular choice, there are many other colors available for you to choose from. The list can go from diamond white or candlelight, to champagne, cafe, or gold. There’s even topaz, rum pink, or lavender. If you want something different, but still the traditional white or ivory, many designers offer the ability to have an additional color in a sash, embroidery, or other accent.
Many of our designers let you choose from 3 or 4 different colors, adding to the customizability of your gown. For example, www.essensedesigns.com, one of our designers, can show you all of your options on their website.
Here’s a list of what colors are out there and generally what shade they’ll be. Keep in mind that each designer has their own name for each color they’re using, therefore these aren’t universal to every designer/store.
- White: Sometimes called “Stark White.” It’s the brightest white you can find. It looks great on darker complexions.
- Diamond or Natural White: A shade off of white but appears as it is white in photos. A little more forgiving and easier to wear on most skin tones.
- Ivory: Also called “Eggshell” or “Candlelight.” Some have more yellow undertones making them look creamy while others are softer.
- Rum or Champagne: A white with pink or gold undertones. Appears nearly white in photos.
The key to finding your shade is knowing your skin tone.
- For fair skin, you’ll look better in ivories. Steer clear of white, it’ll wash you out.
- If your skin has pink undertones, opt for more creamier colors.
- If you have medium with yellow undertoned skin, try diamond whites or champagnes.
- Dark skin, most shades of white will work for you. Stay away from ivories.
*As always, be sure to try on a variety of colors before you make your decision!*
